The problem most acrylic collectors don't know they have
Most acrylic-painting insurance policies in India are written against figures that have not been formally re-validated since the policy was first issued. The painting on the wall has appreciated, sometimes dramatically — particularly works by Husain, Souza, Raza, Gaitonde, Krishen Khanna, Tyeb Mehta, Ram Kumar, and the active contemporary names. The sum insured has not moved. When a claim is made — fire, flood, theft, transit damage — the policyholder discovers, too late, that the cover does not match the loss.
A formal insurance valuation closes that gap. It is the document an insurer relies on to set the sum insured at inception, and the document a policyholder relies on to defend a claim if the insurer disputes the value.
Why Insurance Valuation Matters
- Correct Sum Insured
- Claim Defence
- Policy Renewal
- Loss Assessment
- Replacement Cost
